To check:

  • Check the multimeters to make sure there aren't blown 500 mA fuses.
  • Make sure compasses are aligned with north. (If reversed or if not responsive to Earth's field, jiggle a neodymium magnet aggressively back and forth along the face of the compass until needle returns to correct orientation.)
