Note, this schedule is subject to change. It was last updated on March 31, 2021.
This quarter, the schedule will will follow two parallel tracks at the same time – a Lab Project Track and a Journal Article // Peer Review Track.
On the Lab Project Track, students will be working in groups of about 3 on longer, semi-open-ended projects. These projects are designed to expose you to different areas of physics, to give you practice in collaboration, design, data collection and data analysis, and to provide an opportunity to experience what larger-scale, research-like experimental science is like.
Projects 5 and 6 will each include 3 weeks of group work and an individual report at the end.
Students will be assigned to a lab group in either Section A or Section B. (This helps spread out the workload for the TAs so that all groups don't start and end at the same time.)
On the Journal Article // Peer Review Track, you will turn one your past reports into a full-fledged journal article, and participate in a peer review exchange with your classmates.
A single introductory lecture will be held on Wednesday, March 31 from 6:30 - 7:20 pm via Zoom.
The journal article and peer review assignments will guide the class through the whole process step-by-step over the quarter.
