- Envelopes containing paper squares of the same size. Two different size squares, enough to give half the groups in a section one size and the other half the other size.

The only thing which should be set out for the students is a single mass of the type shown below.
Otherwise nothing should be set out at the student stations. For the 141 lab there should be a large collection of parts and apparatus set out on the bench by the blackboard. Anything that might be useful, and even some things which might not be useful should be set out. The goal is to get the students in the habit of figuring out what apparatus to use and grab what they need themselves.
