Pendulums: An Introduction to the Scientific Method


Common area

  • 2-m sticks
  • 1-m sticks
  • Rulers
  • Calipers
  • Protractors (mix of shapes and sizes)
  • Box of rods (at least two per station)
  • Box of 90-degree rod connectors (at least two per station)
  • Ring stands (at least one per station)
  • Tall rods on table clamps (at least one per station)
    • Leave some together, but disassemble some (to show that tall rods and clamps can be used separately as well)
  • Masses (assorted)
    • Box of mixed masses (most of “bad” shape)
    • Small round masses with the hole in the middle
    • Mass clips
  • Scissors
  • String (assorted)
    • Make sure there's a roll in the “string dispenser”
    • Include other odd strings (sewing thread, fishing line, twine, etc.)
  • Tape (a couple rolls)
  • Balances (two per room)

Individual station

  • Whiteboard
    • assortment of dry erase markers
    • an eraser
    • a bottle of cleaning spray
