====== Terminology ====== It seems that quite a bit of electronics terminology, especially regarding communication, is a carry-over from radio days, which is in turn a carry-over from Morse code abbreviations. See things like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q_code, https://morsecode.ninja/reference/, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prosigns_for_Morse_code, and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Procedure_word for reference. This makes TX and RX make A BIT more sense, and I'm sure that I'll dig up other examples with time. Also, ASCII standards evolved out of Telegraph codes. Randomly, Digikey search for common resistors: []
